Denim Daze, Spring/Summer 2024

Denim Daze encapsulates the spirit of the late 90s and early 2000s. Taking clear references from the iconic Britney Spears to the legendary Aaliyah, as well as the Y2K influence of contemporary brands like Blumarine, Fanci Club, and Dominnico, this collection explores the boundaries between masculinity and femininity while showcasing unique seaming details, lacing, color blocking, and cut-outs.

This five-look collection shows off my expertise in digitally drafting patterns within Gerber AccuMark as well as sewing, fitting, and finishing patterns onto a model/avatar within Browzwear 3D Software.

Denim Daze showcases my growth as a designer after working for two years within the fashion industry, as well as what I’ve gleaned from working for different fashion companies. From the mood board to the technical flat illustrations, each part of this mini assortment shines a light on my ongoing journey as a designer.

There are aspects of Julie Vu that are present within this collection that have stayed consistent from my previous independent collections – for instance, my love for the contemporary level of fashion, playing with hard versus soft fabrications/materials, overlapping the lines between masculine and feminine styles, color blocking, seaming details, a strong contrasting stitch, and innovative hardware.

Denim Daze is truly a love story of all that I’ve learned since graduation as well as the initiative that I took to go even further in my fashion education.
