Abercrombie Kids, Nov. 2020 - May 2022

Abercrombie Kids was truly an amazing, once-in-a-lifetime opportunity that had me hands-on and managing an entire category from the get-go. I was first placed on the Girl’s Layering Knits and Graphic Tees team. Within the span of a month, I was presenting in meetings for Girl’s Layering Knits and managing the category on my own.

As I got comfortable overseeing Girl’s Layering Knits and making it more my own, I was moved to the Girl’s Fleece Tops, Knit Bottoms, and Activewear team, where I would be allowed further exposure as a newer designer. The eventual goal was then for me to take over the position of lead designer for all three categories.

The learning curve at Abercrombie Kids was steep but in hindsight, worthwhile. From very early on, I was actively communicating with my cross-functional teams as well as presenting to Abercrombie Kids leads in major milestone meetings.

I truly stepped into my role as design lead on the Girl’s Fleece Tops, Knit Bottoms, and Activewear teams during the Summer 2022 through Spring 2023 seasons. In fact, the Girl’s Fleece Tops and Knit Bottoms categories had their best season yet while I was on their team.

I was told by the Merchandising team that our success was due in part to my designs connecting well with the quickly evolving kid’s customer. My trend-forward mindset and understanding of what would be appealing to our younger audience was essential to creating the types of assortments that were selling out within our stores.

Working at Abercrombie Kids and having the opportunity to be able to lead several different categories was an experience that I will take with me for the rest of my fashion career. It definitely set me up for success moving forward in my next role at RG Barry/CPG.
